Let's get ready to Royal Rumblllllllle!

Sorry, it's my second favorite event of the year... Aside from my anniversaries of becoming an item with my wife and marrying my wife, of course... Hi, baby. grin

I just bought "The History of the WWE Championship 1964-2006." I love this DVD. It should be 1964-2005 since there are no matches from 2006 in it and it came out before 2006 was over but whatchagonnado? Anyway, best wrestling (compilation) DVD I've ever bought. That list includes:

RVD: One of a Kind
Hulk Hogan: The Ultimate Anthology
Eddie Guerrero: Cheating Death, Stealing Life
Rey Mysterio 619
From the Vault: Shawn Michaels

IMO the best DVD set is Bret Hart's. I already own most of the matches on the WWE title DVD anyway. It would be pointless for me to buy it.

P.S. 'Taker 4 Rumble win plz.

I've only seen the "documentary" part of the Bret Hart DVD. It was OnDemand.

I got 'Taker, Michaels or Orton. According to an annual tradition I have with my wife, her little brother and my little cousins each person must select two choices. I'm having trouble letting go of either Michaels or Orton. Thus far, I have the winning record. I chose Brock, Booker T (in the little Raw battle royal when Brock won), Benoit, Eddie (in the little SmackDown battle royal when Benoit won), Batista and Rey Mysterio (s'funny because that year I picked Mysterio and Orton but here on the Squad I actually picked who I wanted to win rather than who I thought would win). I really don't want to lose and it's obvious 'Taker's going to Mania against Batista (and hopefully hand him his ass) but I don't know about Michaels or Orton.

'Taker/Michaels at the end of the Royal Rumble kicked ass. I know your a Benoit fan, Dude, but I gotta say that was the most entertaining Rumble (particularly the last 15-20 minutes) in a long time.

I don't let that blind me. IMO the 05 Rumble match was better than the 04 one. They got rid of the dead shits and kept the upper-card to main eventers in for long periods of time. I didn't get to see the rumble this year, but I'm 100% garunteed going to buy it on DVD.

I gotta say that, personally, I prefer the 2004 Rumble. It had everybody's little favorites at the end of the match with Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, RVD, John Cena (when Cena was cool), and Goldberg being all the last one's elimated before Big Show. There was also that cool tease of Orton and Benoit making it to the end and then the furthering of Foley/Orton. Additionally, I great job was done of building Show up in the match. The only guy above he didn't eliminate was Goldberg. Benoit's elimination of Show was one of the coolest ever as it wasn't built around "Benoit's out... no he's not... Big Show's out!" It was a case of Benoit out-wrestling Show and it was sweet.

'05 had Cena and Batista botch the finish, Vince McMahon run out and restart the match after hurting himself and created the evil that is Batista. I felt empty after this one. Like WWE was trying to make me like something I didn't like. '04 had me feeling like wrestling was entering a new generation. '05 made me feel like Vince was forcing us to like what he wanted.

I don't know... Personally, I prefered '04 but above both was this year's.

It's only 1/4* difference for me. Like I said, the likes of Orlando Jordan where lasting for two or three minutes, while all the upper carder to main eventers where all getting 10 minutes and good showings is what made me like the 05 Rumble better. But if you take the end of the 04 one and cnd swpap it with the 05 one, you get the best Rumble ever.

R.I.P. Mike Awesome.

That was weird, btw. It's hard to picture Awesome hanging himself... not that it's hard to concieve of the guy wanting to hang himself... it's hard to picture him physically doing it.

Still kinda hard to believe that HBK's gonna be in a WrestleMania main event (it's also pretty retarded considering most of the younger guys who should be getting over are in mid-card matches). I'm torn... Shawn's my favorite wrestler but we need younger guys put over and I doubt he'll be allowed to beat Cena clean. Both competitors in the other main event are over 40. I just pray that 'Taker isn't beaten by Batista. I... will... be... pissed. Money-in-the-Bank is building up pretty nicely with two guys that have been in the main event for many months (Edge and Booker) adding some legitimacy that guys like Matt Hardy, Finlay and many others in previous Money-in-the-Bank matches couldn't add. The only really bad match I've seen thus far is Umaga with McMahon vs. Lashley with Trump. That needed really great guys to work at all and now it looks like it's gonna be a very... very... boring match.

Shawn and 'Taker are performing at exceptional levels. They deserve one last run.

I can't argue against HBK and 'Taker's skill and work ethic.

I just saw Survivor Series OnDemand. I had no idea the match between King Booker and Batista went down the way it did. I thought Batista beat Booker clean. I'm a lot less pissed about it now that I realize that Booker not only undersold the Batista Bomb (I must admit that I marked out when Booker grabbed the rope) but also that Batista had to hit Booker with the title to score the pinfall and, additionally, Booker dominated for the majority of the match and it really looked like Batista might not be able to beat him (and technically he wasn't able to since he used the title to do it). Nicely done. I'm still pissed that Booker lost the belt to (of all people) Batista but at least it wasn't as bad as Booker being made to seem like the lesser of the two and, instead, he actually looked like the better.

The new CFO of WWE, Michael Selick, revealed in Financial Week that the company is exploring the possibility of establishing separate WWE promotions running full-time in separate international markets. If everything went ahead it would go so far as to include separate TV tapings and storylines for each region, turning WWE from an overseas novelty into a local promotion.

Things are still in the preliminary stages but Vince McMahon has discussed it in detail with Stephanie, John Laurinaitis and others in the inner circle. The territories mentioned include a 'Pacific' region covering Japan, South Korea, China and Australia, a 'Hispanic' territory for Puerto Rico, Mexico and South America, and a European territory, with perhaps a Russian one at a later date. Meanwhile, in the USA, there would be two touring brands, most likely Raw and ECW, with Smackdown becoming the Hispanic brand as it is already well established in the market. Big pay increases would be given to senior agents and creative team members to move themselves and their families overseas, with potential performance bonuses depending on how well business goes. It would start off with a TV executive producer with experience of the region working closely with one agent and one writer who would be running the territory. There would also be a crew of wrestlers, who would also be expected to move their families overseas. Paul Heyman's name has actually been mentioned in connection to the Pacific region.

Shane McMahon, along with Selick, is working on a business plan for the venture, which remains in its formative stages. Potential drawbacks include the cost of producing WWE calibre shows, around $500,000 per week, and how TV stations in areas like Mexico would respond to the price. There is also the danger of international markets already beginning to get overexposed. Recent Japanese tours have not performed particularly well, there were concerns over the number of Australian tours, while advances for the next batch of Mexican dates have been well below expectations. Also, though WWE can get away with charging high prices for their shows at the moment as it is a novelty, doing so repeatedly would not help when taking on promotions like CMLL or AAA.

If it did come to pass then a lot of new wrestlers would of course be hired, as there would be a minimum of five brands. They are looking at promoting each market using both established WWE stars and top babyfaces based on ethnic backgrounds. Carlito, Mistico and Mysterio would be assigned to the Hispanic brand as top stars, they would look for a top Asian and Australian babyface, and guys like Regal, Finlay, Harry Smith and Paul Burchill could be assigned major roles in Europe. They would also likely raid the local markets in Japan and Mexico, whilst bringing back more of the '80s and '90s stars to make up the numbers. The only sure thing about the creative team members is that neither Stephanie McMahon nor Brian Gerwitz would work internationally. Gerwitz would likely become the chief writer of the USA brands, while Stephanie would hire more TV writers with Hollywood experience. Word is that the interntaionaly territories would be handled by Shane, with Vince concentrating on domestic business, though many have suggested that Vince's personality means he would want to be involved everywhere anyway.

This is way too big of a risk to actually happen. They'd be in huge financial trouble if it was a failure.

Did anyone watch UFC 68? Batista was sitting behind the MW champ Anderson Silva. I wish Silva put him in the clinch and kneed him in the face lol
