Did your BR DVD have the commentary? I heard the R2 DVDs are screwed up.

I have not found the commentary, I'll take a look now. B89 Certainly has one.
I have just checked and there is no commentary, the box states there is but there is no option on any menu, and the disk does not even contain the audio track. I am considering importing the R1 release because apparently the BBFC cunts censor Batman Returns and I hate censorship! They wont disclose what is censored though, they just say...
"When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 121m 13s. To obtain this category cuts of 0m 7s were required. The cuts were Compulsory. Cut required to remove a potentially dangerous imitable technique, in accordance with BBFC Policy and Guidelines and the Video Recordings Act, 1984."
I assume this is perhaps when the Penguin bites the guys nose because that's really quick. It sickens me that they feel they have the right to butcher the art of another man; if I went to the Tate Gallery and cut a chunk out of a painting I would be put in jail. What they do is no better.

The Deluxe Edition is exactly the same as the Special Edition. Except we're missing the MTV thing. Otherwise we've giot everything.

I've always heard that they cut something to do with Catwoman. I think it's in the Shreck department store sequence. Something with the aerosol cans?
The BR commentary is very good. Better than Tim's Batman commentary, probably because he seems to feel closer to BR.
Do you have a region-free player? If WB doesn't replace those BR copies then they're outright ripping off the UK/Europe.

Why'd they take that off? I hate Jimmy Fallon and those MTV spoofs, so I haven't watched it.

You disliked that? I loved it. It's beautiful. Very Burton. Very goth/expressionist. Very Batman.
And its semi-kinkiness -- perfect.

Yeah I do, I will certainly pick up the R1 for the commentary and get onto WB about replacing my disk!
I don't recall anything about Aerosols in the Department Store so that would be it! Could you describe what happens because I've never seen that part . When a film is censored I usually import Dutch R2 versions because they are always totally uncut, it never occured to me that Batman Returns was still censored; I initially read that only the first cinematic release was censored and that all subsequent releases had been fully uncut. It really sucks to find out that I was wrong. Oh well, R1 release here I come! That will boost my Batman Returns Collection to 3 DVDs and the very original VHS!

Catwoman sticks some aerosole canisters in a microwave in the department store and sets the timer. This is how she blows it up.

Ah now it makes sense! All we get to see is her set off the gas on then backflipping out when Batman and Penguin are outside. I watched it again tonight and again wondered what exactly caused the gas to ignite.
Must get R1 DVD!

Have you watched many of the features for either movie? What did you think?

Wouldn't have a clue. I agree though, usually the MTV spoofs aren't the best.

Did I hate it? Absolutely not. I loved it. But the Banshees, just so very very weird.

Are you serious? Why would they edit that? It's always been shown in the R4 DVDs.

I've watched a bit from B89, mainly that long documentary and that appalling Robin storyboard. I've watched pretty much all of the Returns extras (except obviously the Commentary), all were pleasent but nothing life changing.

BWAHAHAHA. Either we don't have a broadcasting authority or they're just on a 24/7 vacation.

If you're living in Europe and buy a DVD made for the American market you'd better have a region-free DVD player or you'll get locked out. An R1 DVD player won't play R4 discs, or an R2 player won't play R3 and so on -- they either have to match or you have to free yourself from the managed global market by having a DVD player that can play any region's DVDs.
Region 1 - America Region 2 - Europe Region 3 - Asia Region 4 - Australia
