So, they're retro-fitting Bruce to have been in the Metropolis destruction.
And Luthor has Zod's body. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET THIS BE THE SEEDS FOR BIZARRO.

Awesome trailer

Whether it's an awesome film remains to be seen though of course. easily could end up being a giant cluster fuck with amount of characters they're spose to be introducing

Wonder Woman looked great though i must say. I wonder if that woman can actually act though.

Also saw the suicide squad trailer, albeit in potato quality

It's was okay. Harley Quinn looked great and thankfully doesn't sound like her

Leto sounded pretty much like Ledger. He looks utterly insane

What concerned me was the Robin costume in the trophy case with Joker grafitti on it. This concerns me because already I fear the solo Batman film will be about Jason Todd and his return.

Between live action films, animated films, video games, and general events continuously referenced in modern comic culture, there is a massive reliance on a select few stories: Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, Death In The Family and Under The Hood. Recently the return of Jason Todd being a particular hipster favourite.

Personally I'd rather see wider inspiration rather than reusing the same select few books as the basis for every medium.

But we all know these films aren't made for the small number of people with at least a couple of decades of hardcore comic collecting. They want irritating obsessive hipsters with no legacy or any real knowledge who will buy all the mass produced merchandise, and also the general audience with a casual interest in just seeing the films and playing the games without obsessing which is fair enough. Just sucks that they think these people want the same old thing every time.

But hey, that's all pure speculation on two trailer shots. Really hope I'm not right. As a backstory reference, I'm absolutely fine with it. It's overdone, but I'm fine with it.

Was that Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne I saw? Do we really need to see the Wayne murders again? (Rhetorical question, obviously) Snyder already gave us a whole unnecessary origin film for one character, at least this should be comparatively minimal.
---

The apparent retcon of Bruce in the Metropolis destruction appears to have always been Snyder's intention. An interview I read recently (can't remember where, sorry) said he pitched to Warner the last shot of Piece Of Shit, sorry, Man Of Steel was of a piece of Kryptonite being delivered to Bruce Wayne. They said no to that. At least Snyder thought about something though.

Yeah, he did get a view of a Wayne Enterprises building in the film, so it's possible that was part of the plan.

So now the rumour (and I see no reason for this not to be true because it is easy money) that Warner want an Affleck Batman Trilogy as well as everything else.

This is not surprising. But am I alone in thinking this is overkill? The 'New On Screen DC Universe" or whatever hasn't even started yet and already I'm finding the whole concept more of a chore than anything else. Feels like a hundred fucking films coming out, all will be a 'big deal' at the cinema and all will have about fifty thousand different Blu-Ray releases over the space of 18 months, each being the 'New Utlimate Edition Even Better Than The Last One And Will Never Be Topped Until We Do Another Next Week".

Obviously I'm not obligated to buy them all, and I won't. Just feels like too much to me. Maybe wait ten years and then come back with a Batman trilogy and I'll be excited again. But we just had one, now we have at least six films (BVS, two JLA and three solo) that will have major Batman focus. Maybe a new Batman film just doesn't feel like a special event anymore when we already have six as good as announced before one is even out!

I know Marvel do it, but their films never interested me and more and more I'm glad I never bought into their film universe with how bloated it is getting. But it's kinda funny, aside from a couple of notable hardcore exceptions, the films were always made for a more mainstream casual audience put off by the sheer amount of comics and the dedication needed to keep up with them and their interlinking webs. Seems to me the films are going the same way. DC haven't even started yet. But I get the feeling this Marvel/DC massive film universe bubble will burst before long. How much time will a casual mainstream audience really want to put into an ever expanding series of films with no end in sight? Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if these films were 80-90 minutes long. But when every single one is a 140+ minute epic, fatigue sets in fairly quickly.

The plans for more are always there. Just like Maguire was contracted to star in up to six Raimi Spider-Man films.

And then Spider-Man 3 flopped and they all got cancelled. The milking will continue for however long they can. If they can milk it for three movies, they will.

You almost have to feel bad for Henry Cavill.

Warner: "Nobody wanted a sequel to your film Henry, unless we put Batman in it. Now he's getting three films exclusively to himself, without you. That is all Henry, you can go now, Justice League doesn't start shooting for a while yet. No no, we don't need you for promotional tours, Ben has all that covered. Thanks, bye Henry. What? You're still here? Fine, go talk to CBS, maybe they'll let you be in Supergirl."

Damn, Superman is so good he pulls off Batman's eye paint!

Massive spoilers next, full summary of the film, including what appears to be the ending:

Side note - Is that awful CG monstrosity supposed to be Doomsday or Darkseid? Whatever it was, it looked truly terrible.

They introduced that new power in Birthright I think.
I didn't dislike the trailer. I'm hoping the Luthor thing is public vs. real image. Maybe this is just his paparazzi / reality show persona. Looks like they went out of their way to say "hey, we can do jokes too. Not just heavy drama all the time. Grim & Gritty (tm) & FUNNY!"
Also...yeah. That's all. Trying to withhold judgment.

Calling it now:
act 1: we all hate Superman because Batman.
act 2: they iron out differences and audience warms to Superman.
act 3: Superman "dies" in Doomsday fight, bringing all the superpeoples together to form the JL.

JL film will have Superman returning and a re-birth of hope.

Pretty much, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of original ideas going into this.

I just watched the trailer for the second time. The first had me definitely intrigued, but this one I must say has seriously dampened my eagerness for it.

One part I missed first time that made me genuinely happy is the credit for Bill Finger at the end. It seems a little insulting that it is "Bob Kane with Bill Finger", (shouldn't it really be the other way around?) or they should have at least put "and" instead of "with". Sounds like they are playing down the importance of his role. Nonetheless, still so good to see him finally credited at all after all these years.
