xx Year ONE'S you would like to see...
« Thread started on: Nov 28th, 2005, 4:40pm »

With the popularity of Year ONE origin stories of late, I'm sure this will not end. What Year ONE'S would you guys like to see?

I personally would like to see an Oracle Year ONE. Nightwing proved he could get two, and I'm not really familiar with Barbara after The Killing Joke and when she was actually Oracle so I think she could do with another arc to bridge the gap and explore her adapting to her new disability.

That could work. There's an issue of The Batman Chronicles which contained an early Oracle story. Other than that, I'm not sure of anything which covers the transition.
Also of note is that any title which DC published an annual for in 1995 was a "Year One" story...

I like Year One stories, but I'm tired of them all being called "Year One."

Like I said in the "story arcs that need TPBs" thread, i'd like a story of Jason Todd becoming Robin

Yeah I liked those, I really liked the Scarecrow Year ONE, but I must say I really didn't like the new one released in conjunction with Batman Begins, is that out of continuity or is it intended to replace the far superiour origin tale currently collected in Four of a Kind?

I was interested in the new Scarecrow Year One until I found a copy of the old annual for $0.10. The annual was one of my favorite comics as a kid (along with the Robin Year One annual).

However, I might pick up the Ra's Al Ghul Year One when it comes out as a single volume.

I loved the Robin: Year One annual, but my memory as far as the Scarecrow annual -- other than select images and the cover which is ingrained -- is frayed. What made it special? I could always just dig it out, but I suppose I'm being...lazy, phony? Something. I don't think it's the latter.

Honestly, nostalgia has a lot to do with it, and there are a few images from it (like you mentioned, the cover) that I will never forget.

I also think it's an effective and plausible origin of the villian, even though the whole combat training scene reminded me too much of an earlier Penguin origin story.

That just sounds like a rehash of the flashbacks in Longbow Hunters, which is awesome.

I'd prefer to read a Green Arrow: Year One series like the Batgirl: Year One. Something with more than just the origin story.

I'd like DC to throw out the Emerald Dawn continuity/beginnings of Green Lantern Hal Jordan. While I thought the first series was okay, I thought there was a LOT of untapped potential between establishing Green Lantern's relationship with other DC characters (mainly Superman). I think there are potential for a Sinestro/Green Lantern/Superman story revolving around Hal's training and Sinestro's distrust of other heroes.

ThereŽs a DC Showcase showing Barbara in an early story after The JokerŽs Killing Joke. Check it out.

IŽll like to see a Rhas Year One. I know a lot of the character but his origin is lost on time and continuity fog, so IŽll like a continuity correct revision of the character.
