Every so often a movie will be made about something I love and I'll know, based on the trailer, that it's gonna be a heaping pile of excrement (See the recent Street Fighter/Chun Lee movie... I didn't). I love Dragonball. I am such a DBZ geek that I download fan-made anime music videos of it. I heard a movie was coming soon and it was... ugh... live action. Uh oh. Months passed and photos of the movie popped up online. Double uh oh. Months more passed and a trailer was out. F***ing Hollywood bastard pieces of s***!

Suffice it to say, a Dragonball movie is out and I can't see myself paying $8 to see it. I knew it'd suck like a blackhole in the world's most powerful vaccum ever.

I had the good fortune of reading the Chicago Sun-Times and there was a contest. Send your name, address and phone number and get a chance to win two tickets to see Dragonball at Hollywood Boulevard Theatre (they bring you food to your table while you sit in leather office chairs). I thought, "okay," and entered. I won. I have seen Dragonball: Evolution.

If you are a Dragonball or DBZ fan, pay for a ticket. The movie has its drawbacks but, heck, the show has ITS drawbacks. I wish it was longer than 1 hour and 15 minutes. I wish it had Krillin. I wish Goku had a tail. Other than that? They made the best live-action Dragonball movie they could on the budget they had. I recommend this movie to any and all fans of Dragonball... Everyone else? Stay away.

TheBatSquad Fact # 389: Chaos is a big fan of Pixar films. He's seen Wall-E over 7 times and thinks it is worthy of a Best Picture award.

So... It's not bad? I do not love DBZ but liked it enough to watch all episodes again last year. I might check it out.

Awesome that you won the tickets, though, and were surprised as a result.

If you're a fan of the show, you're going to despise the movie. And seeing as how the internet loves to pick things apart because they aren't 100% accurate with the original version, does it surprise you that negative comments are the only comments I've seen?

Anyway, I saw it last weekend and I liked it. I thought the good outweighed the bad (Chi Chi was awesome, the "punch-block" fighting style of the show) though the bad really sticks out (too short, Yamcha's actor was terrible, too many slow motion effects).

I read it made more money outside the US so maybe by some miracle there will be a sequel (there's plenty of things they could do in this continuity like introducing Krillin as an exchange student from that monk temple).

Wow! I hope it was a huge DBZ fan who said that.
