Drools... let me in on what Burton says that surprises you or coincides with or contradicts what we've been saying about his films.

Got em.
With the exception of U2's video omited from Batman Forever, I have no complaints.
I love how they got interviews from just about every cast member .... even Bob the Goon.
Schumaker sounds like a nice guy. I listened to bits and pieces of the commentaries and it sounded more scene specific than Burton's.

How nice that Joel can be specific about the shit he put on the screen...
The Batman commentary, from what I've listened to, is pretty good. Burton goes on quite a bit about his vision for the character and how that related to minimizing screentime at moments to fit with Wayne's psychology.
He went into that on the BR doc as well -- how the actual point was Batman as a damaged introvert who couldn't deal with normal society, leading him to hide himself away in the shadows (obviously this fits, as Batman is very much a visual reaction and statement on Bruce's part as to his inner feelings). I'm glad he fully defends this, as I think his vision is full of depth for the character as provided through the throughline of mysteriousness (characterization matches up with plotting to form the film's backbone; the question of who and what Batman/Wayne is).
He also talked about his preference for visual storytelling over anything that's dialogue-driven on the Batman commentary, and how Expressionism was the film's form of statement and examination.

Would you rather you watch it? I'm doing this for you and everybody here man. Think of it as biblical allegory, I'm paying the ultimate sacrifice to absolve everyone from the sin of B&R.

You think I didn't know that?
Anyway as luck would have it, I've gotten my hands on the Begins SE. The movie's still great. The extras are awesome from what I've seen so far. But why the hell is there no commentary?

Because they're going to bilk us all out of 20 more bucks (or relative amount depending on nation) in a year or two for yet another edition.

Yeah and like the dumb fuck I am, I'll end up getting it.
So did Burton say anything that went against your theories?
